The 26-year-old is yet to feature under the German due to injury but he is unhappy at his lack of playing time at Old Trafford.
Martial’s agent, Philippe Lamboley, angered Rangnick earlier this month when he declared that the Frenchman wanted to leave the club.
‘Anthony wishes to leave the club in January. He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon,’ said Lamboley.
Rangnick responded to those comments by insisting he does not need to convince any player to stay at the Theatre of Dreams and that he would not conduct his contact with Martial through the striker’s agent.
Martial missed games against Crystal Palace and Norwich with a knee injury but he was at the club’s training ground on Wednesday to finally discuss his future with Rangnick.
The France international is keen on joining Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season and Rangnick has already admitted his squad is too big, which suggests that a move could be on the cards.
United have a bloated frontline containing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, and Martial has managed just one goal this term.
However, the striker’s £200,000-a-week wages could prove problematic for Sevilla and United may have to meet a portion of his salary if they’re to get him off the books.
