The 32-year-old was stripped of the captaincy this month following a disciplinary breach and has not featured for Arsenal since the 2-1 defeat to Everton on December 6.
In Aubameyang’s absence, Arsenal have won all five of their matches and their latest display was impressive as Arteta’s men comfortably brushed aside Norwich at Carrow Road.
Aubameyang is set to leave Arsenal’s squad at the start of January to be a part of Gabon’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which begins against Comoros on January 10.
And Arteta has failed to give assurances that Aubameyang will feature for Arsenal before he departs at the end of next week.
‘He wasn’t selected for today’s match,’ Arteta said when asked about Aubameyang’s situation after Arsenal’s win over Norwich.
‘We’ll take it game by game. That was the decision.’
A double from Bukayo Saka, along with goals from Kieran Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette and Emile Smith Rowe sealed Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Norwich, which has kept them fourth in the Premier League and six points ahead of Tottenham, who have three games in hand.
‘It’s a very satisfying result because in this festive period we have to keep performances to a high level,’ Arteta said of Arsenal’s win over Norwich.
‘We looked really sharp and committed. It’s a big win for us. I am really pleased. The amount of chances we create is pleasing.
‘We go to every ground to try and impose our game. Today was a really good example. The unity we have around the club and with our fans is very pleasing.’
