New Tottenham Manager Antonio Conte Has Insisted That He Will Not Have To Spend Big To Win Trophies At Tottenham

On Thursday night, he had stated that the level of his team was “not so high” after a dismal 2-1 defeat to Slovenian side NS Mura in the Europa Conference League.

Speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzeta dello Sport about spending money, Conte said: “It makes me laugh. Let me tell you that in my career in the end I have always made money, not spent.

“I have often worked with young people to train depreciated players or those who needed to be rebuilt, or player who had never won until then.

“All players have been re-evaluated, thanks to my work. In my career I have only asked for one player who has been paid a lot (Romelu Lukaku).”

Tottenham currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, one point off rivals Arsenal in fifth. They play away at Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
