Dembele is available on a free-transfer this coming summer and from January, can start to negotiate a deal with prospective clubs.
Newcastle are already believed to have sounded out a potential deal for Dembele.
However, Italian website Calciomercato now claims that Juventus could look to make their own move for Dembele in January. It comes as Barcelona look to appoint former midfielder Xavi as their new manager.
As part of the rebuild under Xavi, Dembele a £135m signing from Dortmund – will be allowed to leave. Along with other big names on big money, it represents yet another huge loss financially for Barca.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are still deliberating over who to appoint as their new manager. Steve Bruce has been gone a few weeks now, and Graeme Jones has overseen two miserable performances.
PIF are hoping to make a decision this week. From there, January plans will be drawn up, with Dembele thought to be on the list of marquee signings the club will consider.
This will be the problem fro PIF and Newcastle now. As they look to a higher calibre of player, so too other big clubs will want in on the act.
Of course, Newcastle have the financial muscle. But teams like Juventus are already established giants of the footballing world. Naturally, they’re an attractive proposition for players on the move.
Further, Dembele would be a risky signing anyway. Sure, he’s a massive talent. But his injury record is a nightmare and there’s a reason why Barcelona are open to him leaving.
Newcastle, in reality, would be better making signings who know the Premier League already. The priority is survival.
